I read about Audrey, Wait at Unshelved, a site with a comic strip that is set in a public library. I was about to say a dysfunctional public library but I suppose Mallville's library is no more dysfunctional than most. The reference librarian is named Dewey and he is a librarian with attitude. Check it out here.
On Sunday the strip runs a graphic book review. Usually these books don't much interest me, but this one sounded intriguing.
Audrey is a normal (again, read dysfunctional) teen who breaks up with her boyfriend. But this boyfriend is different. He plays in a band and when Audrey dumps him he writes a song, "Audrey, Wait," about their breakup. It becomes a # 1 hit internationally and Audrey is propelled into celebrity.
Audrey has one of the most delightful best friends since Dionne in Clueless. Between them they find ways to take advantage of Audrey's stardom while trying to maintain a modicum of privacy. Meanwhile, Audrey has her eye on the guy who works in the ice cream shop with her after school - but does he have his eye on her?
