Arts and Crafts, Pre-Raphaelites, Kelmscott Manor, Sesame and Lilies. These are evocative terms. William Morris and John Ruskin have been of great interest to me for a long time. But somehow I've never gotten around to reading biographies of them.
I have now acquired two biographies and I plan to read them this year as part of my NYRs. First Morris, I think, since the Ruskin biography is thicker than it is wide.
Fiona MacCarthy, William Morris: A Life for Our Time. This is "only" 780 pages long.
Tim Hilton's John Ruskin, is approximately 950 pages. It had better be good.
