Margaret Forster has died and I am reminded how much I have liked her novels. So I requested her 2013 novel, The Unknown Bridesmaid, from the Spokane Library. It's about a London psychologist remembering an incident from her youth.
When you search for a book in the library database, they suggest "Similar Titles."
The title offered as similar to this book is The Brothers Karamazov. Now it's been a while since I read Dostoevsky, but I remember enough about this novel to realize that in no way does it resemble a Margaret Forster novel, fine as her novels are.
I'm tempted to re-read the Dostoevsky and write a comparison. But probably not tempted quite enough.
