Yesterday my friend Elaine and I went to Auntie's Bookstore to celebrate our birthday seasons. Elaine is five and I'm going to be seventy. Elaine's mom, Amy, drove us.
Elaine's season runs from November 1 to November 15 and mine is running all year in 2012. We have made this visit to the bookstore for a few years now and I always enjoy myself. Elaine seemed to be having fun today as well, especially when Linda Konecny came along and read from her recent book, Dave's Thanksgiving.
Elaine and I both got books for our birthdays. Mine was the Jon Meacham biography of
Thomas Jefferson, which looks like it's going to be terrific. (But not as terrific as Elaine's books because it doesn't have nearly as nice illustrations.)
Elaine's books were the new Jan Brett, Mossy, and My Name Is Not Isabella by Jennifer Fosberry, illustrated by Mike Litwin.
We're already looking forward to next year.
Happy Birthday to you both.
