The design of this necklace is based on the oxygen atomic emission spectrum. It's made by Cathy Bloedorn at Aurenta Atomica. I'm rather fond of the Erlenmeyer Flask necklace and her steampunk pieces as well. Cathy calls this geek jewelry.

I like that. It's really clever. A bit like the concept involved in the particle zoo (http://www.particlezoo.net/) where neutrinos, quarks, dark matter, electrons etc are made up like soft toys, according to their atomic weight - some are filled with heavier material, others with light, but they are all in the correct ratio.

The partical zoo is delightful, Chris. Quarks and neutrons are cute but I love the bosons!

I have corrected an error in this post, changing K to C in Cathy's name. Maryslibrary regrets the error.

Thanks for the mention!!! Did you see the CO2 necklace? I made Barbara an H2O one, last year, as well. :)

Yes, Cathy, I liked the CO2 necklace a lot. I can think of some other interesting necklaces you could make - starting with table salt.
I knit a scarf years ago using the Fibonacci numbers, up to 233 I think. It was pretty long. I'd like to knit one using one of these designs.

A Fibonacci scarf sounds awesome. :) There is a lady who knits atomic emission spectra scarves. Amazing.
