Katie Halsey and Gillian Dow of The Jane Austen Society of North America have put together a bibliographic essay of the books that Jane Austen mentioned in her letters or were mentioned in the letters of others.
She loved novels, and especially Richardson's Sir Charles Grandison, a door-stop of a book that I read 45 years ago but do not much remember. Lots of poetry, Scott, Fielding, Maria Edgeworth, Fanny Burney, and of course, Shakespeare.
