For a couple of years I've been subscribing to Bookmarks Magazine. Each issue lists the most reviewed books of the last couple of months and quotes reviews from the Boston Globe or the Washington Post or the LA Times. It has in-depth articles about the books of authors ofall sorts of books from Sci Fi to literary fiction. It publishes bibliographies on subjects like the best Science books or early 20th century small novels.
Every month it has at least one piece about a book club and this month's issue is about the Knoxville, TN, Proust reading club (which is reading Dostoevsky at the moment) written by my on-line pal, Pam Thomas.
You can pick up an issue at Border's and Barnes & Noble, but it's best to subscribe. A really useful magazine.
What's so neat about "Bookmarks" is it is a synthesis of reviews from other sources. You get a real feel what what the book is about and whether you'd like to read it. Plus they do a featured author section, often classics, for each issue. I have every issue from day one and can see going back to them over time for new reading ideas!
